Business Units and Roles

The South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC) is made up of six business units, each reporting to the Chief Executive. The SATC is governed by a Board of Directors, who guide the SATC’s strategic direction, monitoring achievements and goals, and ensure sound corporate governance.

A key goal for the SATC is to maintain a strategically focussed organisation with a culture, capability and capacity to perform at its best. The SATC’s individual business units work in concert to achieve this goal.


The role of the Marketing group is to develop and deliver marketing activity that promotes South Australia and creates demand for the state amongst our high yield experience seeker market.

The group also comprises a series of international representatives both within head office staff and overseas representation who proactively market South Australia to the travel trade distribution system across Australia and overseas.

Events South Australia

The charter of Events South Australia, the events arm of the SATC, is to promote South Australia as a tourism destination and attract visitors to SA through securing, managing, developing and sponsoring major events.

Destination Development

The Destination Development group is focused on developing more appealing and accessible tourism infrastructure and experiences, based on South Australia's inherent strengths. The group is also focused on increasing investment in iconic tourism product that reinforces the brand image, message and distribution opportunities.

The Motor Sport Group

The Motor Sport Group is focused on Motor Sport Events in South Australia, specifically responsible for the promotion and delivery of the Clipsal 500 Adelaide and the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge.
