Italian radio station, Radio Capital, will from today showcase the wonders of South Australia to more than 1.5 million Italians.
The South Australian Government and Tourism Australia secured the live radio broadcast in a bid to increase awareness of South Australia as a tourist destination among Italian holiday makers.
Minister for Tourism Leon Bignell said the opportunity to host the hour-long ‘Capitals in the World’ program from South Australia was a fantastic opportunity to highlight our tourism experiences to potential visitors.
“The ‘Capitals in the World’ program is an excellent way to describe South Australia’s amazing wildlife, wide open spaces and fantastic food and wine to one of our most important European markets,” Mr Bignell said.
“South Australia is a particularly popular destination for Italian honeymooners, who often include Kangaroo Island in their itinerary.”
Broadcast locations include Kangaroo Island Wilderness Retreat, the iconic Prairie Hotel in the Flinders Ranges, the Clare Country Club and the 5AA/Nova 91.9 studios in Adelaide.
‘Capitals in the World’ is Radio Capital’s most successful program and will be broadcast at 12:00 noon Italian time and 9:30 pm South Australian local time for five nights this week.
Minister Bignell said the radio broadcast aligned with the current Best Job in the World campaign which targets youth awareness of South Australia.
“South Australia’s Wildlife Caretaker is currently the most popular job in the Best Job in the World campaign, so this is a great way to further promote South Australia as a holiday destination,” Mr Bignell said.
The live broadcast will focus on South Australian experiences with short references to other parts of Australia.
Lonely Planet will also be streaming the live broadcast on a blog titled ‘Australia like you’ve never heard it before’ on their website which attracts more than 350,000 visits a month.
