More accolades for our Barossa ad

The Barossa. Be Consumed television commercial continues to attract global attention, winning an award at an international tourism film festival in Latvia over the weekend.

The campaign took out the Commercial Tourism category at Tourfilm Riga 2014. It comes after the ad claimed a Master award at the Golden City Gate Awards in Berlin last month.

Minister for Tourism Leon Bignell welcomed the latest win for the campaign.

“Combining the Barossa’s stunning landscapes and award-winning food and wine with the haunting music from Nick Cave, it is not surprising our Barossa. Be Consumed ad continues to impress internationally,” Minister Bignell said.

“On the back of the prestigious Grand Prix award at the Cannes Corporate Media and TV awards last year, it is great to see this head-turning campaign gaining further accolades.

“Local tourism operators have already reported a boost in visitor numbers since the television campaign was launched in June last year and we expect the international recognition will encourage more people to experience the wonders of the Barossa.

Latest figures show an 11 percent increase in domestic visitors to the Barossa in 2013 compared to 2012.

Held annually since 2008, Tourfilm Riga features the best films promoting tourism in countries around the world across five categories: cultural tourism, eco tourism, adventure tourism, commercial tourism and Latvian tourism product.
