Tourism Optimisation Management Model (TOMM)
A program developed by a range of tourism industry stakeholders
that is designed to assess, monitor and manage the long-term health
of tourism destinations. In this model, future scenarios are examined
and local communities are engaged in a process to consider what
desirable economic, marketing, environmental, community, visitor
experience, and infrastructure development conditions they wish
to see. The process also identifies what needs to be monitored (and
the acceptable ranges of these performance indicators) to determine
if they are achieving these desirable conditions. This innovative
program is currently being applied to tourism activity on Kangaroo
Island. For more information about TOMM please visit www.tomm.info. |
